What’s in a name?

Changing, changing, I am forever changing it seems. I guess that’s just a part of life. It’s evolution at its finest. However, right in the middle of the revolving door I decided to look for stability better yet predictability.

Do you believe that the name you were given is predestined? Is it a self-fulfilling prophesy?

I think back to the bible character that I feel the most like. Good ol’ Simon. Why was his name changed? I read that to change someone’s name was to give them a different status.

Christ changed his name from “he who hears Simon to “rock or stone. Peter What a process.

Other names like David, beloved one, needed no changing. He was born beloved and he died beloved. Perpetually he was in the state of love.

Tamar…Ms. Date-Palm (hence the reason for the pic change).

So I looked up me http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tamar_(Bible)…and laughed at how true and similar. What a mess! Yet maybe I’ll stick around to see how this whole thing ends.

I wonder about peoples names now and how they line up them.

Hey Tamar, Ya know I am not sure if we are predestined to have our names, but God obviously says that a “good name” says alot. I have always found it interesting to find the meaning of peoples names and if they are significant in anyway. I know for my kids they are and we put emphasis on a good name. Harrison is named after a baseball player who loved Christ and was influential in Stephen’s life, his name was Harold. Madison means “child of a vialant warrior,” and Bryson means alert and ambitious and he is every bit that!! Tamar- a flourishing palm-The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree:, he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Psalm 92:12 So hang in there girl!!
